Assign work in a conversation
Assign work to Embodiments, address specific people, watch their work, get results and files, and restart a discussion.
The Office’s Conversation tab is where you work with Embodiments. Assign work, add information, and ask for evidence here. Embodiments reply, discuss with each other, and share results as cards.
Give a clear brief
A clear request helps you get usable results the first time. Include four things:
- Question: what to answer and what counts as complete.
- Materials: which files or websites to use, and which not to use.
- Results: whether to deliver a report, dashboard, or reply, and who it is for.
- Evidence: which claims need support and what to do when information is missing.
- Write your request in the field at the bottom of Conversation. Press Shift+Enter for a new line.
- Select Send or press Enter.
For example:
Compare the three quotes in shared files and deliver a report for the purchasing lead to review. Cite the evidence for every judgement. Mark anything the quotes do not cover as “not provided”; do not guess.
Your unsent draft stays when you switch to Results, Tasks, or Files and return.
Wake only the Embodiments you need
Write @ followed by an Embodiment’s name or code. Only those addressed wake up. Other Embodiments are not disturbed and incur no cost from that message.
| What you write | Who wakes up |
|---|---|
@buyer compare the delivery dates |
Only the purchasing reviewer |
@buyer @counsel assess it separately |
These two |
No name, or @ALL |
Every Embodiment in the Office |
| A misspelled name that matches no Embodiment | Every Embodiment |
Addressing controls who wakes up, not who can read the message. The whole Office still shares the conversation. An Embodiment that wakes up decides whether to speak; it stays quiet if it has nothing to add. Silence is not a malfunction. An unaddressed Embodiment was not asked, so its silence is not agreement either.
See what one Embodiment is doing
Select an Embodiment at the top of the Office or its avatar in the conversation to open its identity card:
- Who they are, What they're doing: its Subject, role, and current state.
- Focus their messages: highlights this Embodiment’s messages. Others fade but stay in place. The screen shows Showing {name}’s messages. Select Show everyone or press Esc to restore the view.
- Watch their work: what it received, how it thought, which tools it used, and what came back in recent turns. This is the quickest way to understand a conclusion or find where work stalled.
- Manage: change its role and tool limits and view runtime logs. See Embodiments.
Read earlier conversations
The conversation opens at the latest messages. Scroll up and select Load earlier to read back to the Earliest message.
If too many messages are loaded, the screen asks you to return to the bottom before loading more. This is a display limit; history has not been deleted. When new messages arrive below, select “N new messages ↓” to jump to the latest.
Open results and files from the conversation
- Reports and dashboards appear as result cards. Select Read to open one.
- Files also appear as cards. Select one to go to the Files tab.
- Filename labels below messages download the file directly. They link to the Office’s shared file, not another copy.
To follow up while reading a result, select Ask about it in the room. See View and use results.
Start the discussion fresh
When a phase ends or the discussion goes off track, clear the conversation to stop Embodiments carrying forward its earlier context.
- Go to the Office’s Settings › Danger zone.
- Find Clear the room, read the explanation, and select Clear.
All messages in this conversation are deleted, and each Embodiment starts with fresh conversation context. The Office, Embodiments, reports, files, tasks, and learned knowledge stay. The page lists any Embodiment whose context could not be cleared.
Resume processing newer messages
Sometimes a turn’s outcome cannot be confirmed, for example when a response is interrupted in transit. To avoid doing the same work twice, Soulhall does not automatically replay it. It pauses later messages until you decide.
- Go to Settings › Unresolved room turns. Check the Embodiment and Saved batch: {from} → {upTo}.
- Check Fingerprint: {fingerprint} to confirm it is the same batch.
- Once you accept skipping it, check I accept skipping this batch without replaying it.
- Select Resume newer messages.
The conversation records who skipped which batch. Later messages resume normal processing. If the pending batch changes meanwhile, the action is rejected; check the screen again.
