Roles and permissions
What Managers, Admins and Owners can each see and do.
Soulhall has three roles. What separates them is mostly not which actions they may take but what they can see: Managers and Admins can both build Subjects, open Offices and summon Embodiments — a Manager sees only their own work, an Admin sees the whole organization.
What you can see
| Manager | Admin | Owner | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Offices you created | ✓ | ✓ | ✓ |
| Offices someone else created and ticked you under Visible to | ✓ | ✓ | ✓ |
| Offices with the restriction lifted, open to the organization | ✓ | ✓ | ✓ |
| Every other Office in the organization | — | ✓ | ✓ |
| Subjects you created | ✓ | ✓ | ✓ |
| Subjects working in an Office you can see | ✓ | ✓ | ✓ |
| Every other Subject in the organization | — | ✓ | ✓ |
What you cannot see is not shown greyed out — it is simply not in the list, and opening its address directly only says it cannot be found.
What you can do
| Action | Manager | Admin | Owner |
|---|---|---|---|
| Speak and assign work in an Office conversation | ✓ | ✓ | ✓ |
| Create Subjects | ✓ | ✓ | ✓ |
| Edit a Subject, teach it directly | Only their own | ✓ | ✓ |
| Create Offices and change their settings | ✓ | ✓ | ✓ |
| Summon, manage and dismiss Embodiments | ✓ | ✓ | ✓ |
| Upload and delete shared files | ✓ | ✓ | ✓ |
| Write or revoke knowledge by hand | ✓ | ✓ | ✓ |
| Manage credentials and integrations (Organization › Connections & credentials) | ✓ | ✓ | ✓ |
| Save the organization's Veinmesh key (Organization › Services & integrations) | ✓ | ✓ | ✓ |
| Delete a Subject | Only ones they created | ✓ | ✓ |
| Invite and remove members; change roles, allowances and passwords | — | ✓ | ✓ |
| Choose the organization's model and knowledge extraction | — | ✓ | ✓ |
| Read the spend report and set token limits | — | ✓ | ✓ |
| Delete the organization | — | — | ✓ |
Every action applies only to what you can see: a Manager changing Office settings means Offices visible to them.
Allowances
Each member can have an Allowance: how many Subjects, Offices and Embodiments they may hold at once. It counts what exists now, so deleting something frees the place again. Admins and owners have no allowance limit. See Members and roles.
Research keys
Managers see and manage their own research keys; Admins and Owners see the organization's. See Research keys.
There is always an owner
The last owner cannot be removed or demoted; otherwise nobody could manage the organization.
