Telegram
Connect a Telegram group to an Office, assign work from the group, and decide whether conversations can teach the Subject or trigger outward actions.
Telegram is another conversation entrance to the same Office. Assign work in the group and receive Office messages without copying between them. One Office connects to one Telegram group.
Connect a group to the Office
For example, connect the project team’s group to its Office so everyone can ask about progress in the group.
- Open the Office’s Settings › Telegram and select Connect Telegram.
- Scan the QR code with a phone running Telegram, or select Open in Telegram.
- Follow Telegram’s instructions to create the bot. Once ready, open the add-to-group link in your conversation with the setup bot. Add it to the intended group and grant the administrator rights Telegram requests.
- Return to Soulhall. Check the group name and the person who added the bot, then select Confirm this group.
The card shows which bot connects to which group, and new messages start relaying.
Check connection progress
| Card shows | Next step |
|---|---|
| QR code and Open in Telegram | Open Telegram and follow the bot-creation instructions. |
| Waiting for you to finish creating the bot in Telegram. | Return to Telegram and finish creation. |
| Bot ready, with instructions to add it to a group | Use the link in the Telegram conversation and grant administrator rights. |
| Group name, person who added it, and Confirm this group | Check and confirm. If wrong, select Disconnect and start again. |
| Connected group and bot | Assign work in the group and adjust the two trust switches below. |
| The bot was removed from the group, so nothing is being relayed. Connect again to restore it. | Reconnect. |
After connection, the card may also show messages awaiting delivery or the latest problem. Follow the displayed error to investigate. See Troubleshooting.
Assign work in the group
Ordinary group chat enters the Office conversation as context for the next work. To request an Embodiment’s answer, address the Office’s bot.
- Mention the card’s
@botnamein your message, such as “@botname Summarize today’s decisions.” - Or reply directly to a message this bot sent in the group and write your request.
Only these trigger work. Ordinary chat without a mention or reply adds context without consuming a model turn for every message.
When a message starts work, the bot reacts to it with 👀, and the group shows the bot as typing while the Office works. Both mean the Office, not a particular Embodiment — the Office page shows who is working. 👀 stays even if, in the end, nobody has anything to add.
Telegram replies keep their link. When you reply to an earlier message — yours, a colleague’s, or an Embodiment’s — the Office sees which message you are answering and the words you quoted, even if the original was long ago. A reply that does not address the bot is still only context.
The group receives Embodiment messages and messages people send in the Soulhall Office. Messages arriving from Telegram are not sent back to the same group again.
Keep group experience in this Office
When an external contractor joins, you may want Embodiments to learn from this work without those conversations affecting the Subject’s judgement elsewhere.
- On the connected Telegram card, find What this group may teach.
- Uncheck Let conversations in this group teach the Subject and select Save.
Learning from conversations containing Telegram participants’ messages stays with this Office’s Embodiments, not the Subject. Turning this off does not prevent receiving messages, replying, or learning here. It is on by default. When on, knowledge processing still decides what should travel with the Subject; it does not turn every sentence into Subject knowledge.
Limit outward actions the group can trigger
A group is useful for discussion, but not every participant should be able to direct Embodiments to sign in with your accounts or operate external services.
- Under What this group may set in motion, uncheck Let this group set outward actions in motion.
- Select Save.
While the group remains connected, all Embodiments in the Office cannot operate browsers, sign in with credentials, or call connected external services, whether instructions come from Telegram or Soulhall. Reading web pages and browser views, files, tasks, reports, and memory remains available. People can still take control in Browser.
Stop exchanging messages with the group
Select Disconnect on the Telegram card. The Office’s connection record is removed, and Connect Telegram becomes available again.
If the bot was removed from the group instead, the card explains that removal and stops relaying. Either way, you can reconnect. Disconnect the current group before connecting another.
Handle a server setup message
If you see Telegram is not set up on this server yet., contact whoever deploys Soulhall. The server has no usable Telegram connection configuration. Scanning again or changing groups will not fix it, and the card offers no connect button.
